The US is the land of unlimited possibilities and also the founding country of the 3D-printing technology. Unfortunately we were too late to exhibit on to the biggest 3D-print show in the US so we decided to visit.
The 2017 version of Rapid + TCT in Pittsburgh gave us the opportunity to explore which new developments are being cooked in the promised land. Major European players like Ultimaker, Zortrax, EOS and Covestro were presenting themselves to the American public. TCT and SME are organising this show, two well-known names in the exhibition world.
The impression of Our CEO Jeroen Wiggers; “This feels real American. The David L. Lawrence Convention Center is massive and the lay-out of the show floor is also bigger than we are used to in Europe (e.g. Frankfurt (Formnext) and Birmingham (TCT Show)).
It is very interesting to talk to our counterparts in the USA and learn that we face the same challenges.
One thing is clear: our strategy to develop solutions for the professional FDM market is also applicable for the USA.
Printer builders like Mass Portal with their Dynasty printfarm solution, the Ultimaker 3 printer and raw material suppliers like Covestro are all developing ways to create solutions which suit the requirements of 3D-printing for professional applications.
Another step forwards is the Fusebox of Essentium; to bring FDM prints closer to injection moulded parts. I don’t see much difference between the innovations in the US and Europe. Many opportunities to work together to improve the experience for the end-customer and bring FDM printing to the next level.
So if it is up to me it is not goodbye but see you soon”.
The response we have seen regarding the show so far have been very positive.
So till next year…, but hopefully sooner!
